Michael is a highly skilled lead designer with extensive experience in digital product design, UX, and visual design. He is passionate about designing interfaces that are both visually appealing and highly functional, with a focus on delivering an exceptional user experience.
With over 20 years of design experience, I started my career in graphic design though became increasingly interested in frontend development and interaction design. Since then, I have designed for startups, local government, and most recently, held the position of Senior User Experience Designer at nib Health Funds, an ASX100 company.
At nib, I worked on web and app experiences for member online services and had the opportunity to design nib's first digital member card. Additionally, I played a key role in the successful execution of nib's recent rebrand across digital products by leading the design efforts within the design system team.
Today, I am an independent designer based in the Hunter Valley, Australia, the land of the Wonnarua People, located about a two-hour drive north from Sydney.
My process
As a designer, I use the Double Diamond framework to communicate and engage stakeholders in the design thinking process. To ensure that the design stays on track and is continuously validated, I also employ a shorthand approach called "think-make-check." This approach involves shorter iterations of data gathering, prototyping, and validation. By combining these approaches with human-centered design principles, we can create innovative and effective user experiences.
